every year, during the third term holiday, my parents take me for a holiday. i have been to many places in Malaysia. however, my favourite holiday destination is Tioman Island.
Tioman is located off the shore of Pahang. to get there, one has to travel to mersing in Johor. then, from mersing , a boat ride will take you to Tioman. the boat ride takes about two hours. there are many reasons why i like to go to Tioman. there are many beautiful beaches on the island. the waters around island are also crystal clear. colourful corals and fishes can be found in its water. the sands on its beaches are powdery and white.
the biggest village on Tioman is Tekek. many of the villagers are fishermen. others rent chalets to holidays makers. there are a few scuba diving schools in Tekek. they give scuba diving lessons to tourists. an interesting spot is the maritime museum. displayed inside are models of ancients ships and artifacts. there are also many maps and charts.
according to the legend, Tioman Island was a dragon which turned to stone. the southern part of the island has a mountain with two peaks. it is called Nenek Si Mukut. people say the two peaks were once the dragon's horns. i hope that pollution will not spoil the beauty of the Tioman Island.
